So excited, nervous, happy, but very grateful that Jennifer Boyd has come forward and offered her kidney to Anne. Pre-op testing is scheduled for tommorrow at MGH. Looking forward to receiving the green light for transplant. In addition, we have been approached and are meeting with a documentary film maker to be included in his story of organ donation. Our hope is that by sharing our story, we will encourage others who may be considering donating an organ and provide inspiration to others seeking an organ. Many of the organ donors I have communicated with stated that they did not even consider doing such a thing until they heard of the need of others, using the power of social media coupled with local media coverage seems to be a avenue to success. Twitter proved to be a surprise with it’s ability to get our message out in a big fashion. Celebrity tweets from Donnie Wahlberg, Kirstie Alley, Jimmie Marsh, LL Cool J and countless others along with our followers who continued to retweet our search for a donor reached out to over 4 million followers. Facebook has given us a launching pad for sharing our story as well as the stories of others, we have over 800 people following our story and it is growing daily so continue to share our page, it really has helped. The local media, which started back in May with an article in the Danvers Patch by Michelle Gillis, along with Myra Fearer’s article in the Danvers Herald and mentions in Boston Herald has given us bullet items and links to share with our supporters. The decision to donate a kidney and improve someones life is one that is an extremely personal decision, Jennifer took considerable time to wrap her mind around it, gain the support of her family and employer. Her act of donating is one of incredible unselfishness and we are forever grateful. My hope is that we are able to report that the transplant was a success and that everyone is healthy next week. Please keep us in your prayers and accept our thanks for being part of something so special. Our fundraiser on Friday November 18, 2012 will be a great night filled with dancing, food, drinks, raffles, auctions and hopefully live feeds to both Jennifer in Colorado and Anne at home via Skype. So keep following our story and hope to see everyone soon…..THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
